Snow week!!!

Monday January 16th

In honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day Sydney put on a play with her stuffed animals.  Big Mickey (because he is bigger then the small Mickey stuffed animal) was MLK "One of the 5 best Presidents who saved the World".  After we gave her a little history lesson on the Presidents she continued on with her play.

Tuesday January 17th
Is it considered drinking alone if the girls are home?  I love a chilled glass of bubbly Moscato D'Asti the only bad thing is once I open the bottle I have to finish it.

Wednesday January 18th

and the snow began..... I love the snow, I love the sound, the feel, and the fun it brings.  I woke up Wednesday morning and walked outside to enjoy the beautiful falling snow and experienced my favorite part of snow, the complete lack of sound.  The snow absorbs the sound leading to a silence or dullness in the air.  This stillness in the air reminds me the quiet walkways of venice where there were no cars and buildings block all the sound.  I sat in my sleepy chair in the front bay window and watched the snow for a better part of a day and enjoyed evey minute.

Thursday January 19th

The snow stopped and the freezing rain began.  The power went out Wednesday night and the house was beginning to get cold.  I took the dog out in the morning and heard what at first I thought was construction workers, I remember thinking how crazy someone was to be outside building in this cold whether, that was when I realized how silly I was.  I realized quickly the sound was branches breaking and trees falling under the weight of the snow and the freezing rain.  We sat in the living room wrapped up in bankets and watched as the trees in the back yard began to fall.  Danny and I went out in the front yard and saw our 200 foot fir tree leaning dangerously over our house and decided it was time to leave.  We threw some supplies in the car waved good buy to our 7 foot tall snowman and headed over to Danny's sisters house.

Friday January 20th

the power was still out and school was canceled so we stayed at Danny's sisters house another day.  We had a great time playing games and watching snow melt off the trees.  We were all sleepy, including Mr. Wilson.  As I sat on Tina's couch doing my homework I looked over and found Adalyn and Mr. Wilson snuggling on the couch taking a little nap.

Saturday January 21

The power was still out at our house so we spent another day at Tina's house.  I can't begin to tell Tina how thankful I am that she took us in when we needed it.  We got up and had a great scrammble for breakfast and then headed to the gym for a work out.  Once the gym was done we poured a drink and started playing Mexican Dominos.

Sunday January 22nd

Danny and I went by the house to check on things, I headed stright to the back yard to check on the damage.  I rounded the corner and the sight was heart breaking.  The hillside that borders the right side of our property was once covered in beautiful pine trees but now all those trees were laying in our grass.  Beautiful birch trees were broken in half, tall pine trees were snapped in two but some how my beautiful apple tree was undamaged.  The pictures of the damage does not do justice to the destruction in the back yard, there will be days of clean up in our future and years of regrowth on the hillside.

Friday the 13th

Friday January 13th
Adalyn, my tough athletic girly girl, loves to wear tutus.  She wears them to school, to church, to the grocery store, and occationally to bed.  I wonder when it stops being ok to wear them becuase I love the free spirit they represent.  Since I am unfortunetly too old to wear one without being ridiculed I"ll settle for enjoying Adalyn spin and dance in hers!

Saturday January 14th
My mom thought it would be funny to buy Mr. Wilson booties for Christmas, I tried to explain to her that Mr. Wilson was a boy dog and did not deserve the humiliation of wearing pink plaid booties, but I lost the arguement!

Sunday January 15th

The girls were so excited about the snow today, they spent hours outside playing in it.  Their cheeks were rosey red, their little finger frozen through, and snot-cicles were quickly forming but nothing would bring them inside.  As I watched them I began to wonder when and why adults lose this child like behavior.  Why do adults run for warmth after such a short time in the cold, why don't we throw ourselves on the ground and make snow angels the minute the snow begins to stick.  I thought about all the fun things adults seem to miss out on, such as playing onstop in the cold snow, playing in the sand, and and staying out until dark riding bikes with friends.  I watched them play a few minutes longer and then after I kringed at the thought of playing in the sand, I laced up the snow boots and headed outside for a snowball fight.

Tree Sweaters

Usually when I pull up to the courthouse down town and walk by the park along the southside of the building all I see is homeless people hanging out or sleeping, once I even saw one bathing, so you can imagine my surprise a couple of months ago when I walked by the park and saw sweaters on trees.  I was slightly confused at first about why a tree needed a sweater but I soon realized that it made me happy to see the trees all cozy and wrapped up in a beautiful bright sweater.

Ok, so maybe it is cheating to put the same picture two days in a row, but the purpose of this blog is that I use a picture to illustrate my day and unfortunetly this was my day, again!

Boring!

January 10, 2012
This is my life for the next 4 1/2 months.....Statistic in Pyschology....what was I thinking?!?!?  I enjoy school and learning but I think I should have majored in history or traveling or something slightly more interesting then this!  Oh well, it's the price I pay for not going to school 17 years ago when I was suppose to.

Basketball

Sydney started her second year of basketball tonight, although by looking at her you would think it was the first time she had ever seen a basketball.  Danny is coaching her team and Addy is going crazy sitting on the sideline and not being able to play.  I enjoy sitting and watching a group of girls attempt to learn to play basketball and I really enjoy watching Danny attempt to teach them how!

PJ Kind of Day

I love lazy Sundays.  Today the girls and I stayed in our PJ's all day, a good pair of performance fleece PJ's from Old Navy is a staple piece in any wardrobe.

Fun with Family

We always celebrate Kristmas with the Kellers a little after christmas, it's fun to spend time with family after all the hectic holiday stuff has settled down.  This year for Christmas my parents got the grandkids a large cardboard play house that they got to color themselves, who knew it would be the highlight of the Kristmas with the Kellers.  Auntie Chrissy spent most of the night in there playing with the kids and at one point or another everyone left their mark in felt pen somewhere on the house.  Someone (Jason) committed the crime of putting the Barbie convertable in the chimmney and Sydney spent all night playing detective in an effort to solve the crime.  In reality she just blamed everyone and then put the wrong person in jail for the crime, hmm....and innocent person in jail?!?!?!

Bike Ride through Seattle

Danny and I had one last day this week with no children so we loaded up our bikes and headed out for ride in the balmy 42 degree weather.  We bundled up, saddled up on our over priced Cannondale bikes and headed across the I-90 bridge, around Seward Park, and through the Mount Baker nieghborhood.  As we rode through the Seward Park area I found this funny hippy house, I had to stop and take a picture because it made me laugh.

Morning Sun in the Woods

Danny and I headed out early this morning for a hike on Squak Mountian in Issaquah.  As we made a turn on a switchback the canopy thinned and the sun shinned it's beatuiful rays down on us.  The morning fog was still lingering and water was dripping from the branches creating beautiful Western Washington scenery.

Beautiful Sunrises

Usually my drive to work consists of me sipping my grande non-fat vanilla latte and fighting off the sand man, however this morning as I drove I looked in my rearview mirror and saw the most beautiful sunirse.  The sky was on fire with bright pink clouds against the vibrant blue sky.  I pulled over, whipped out my camera and captured its beauty.

Fluffy Puppy

So I am starting my daily picture blog off two days late, but as I say quit often, better late then never.  I am afraid that everyone who views this blog will be blessed with many pictures of our cute fluffy little puppy, Mr. Wilson Foo Foo Pants, or just Mr. Wilson.  It is amazing to me how much happiness one little fluffy puppy brings into a house!
